Milk Pastilla (Jawhara)

Ingredients:

  • 10 medium pastilla sheets
  • Oil for frying

For the Milk Mixture:

  • 10g cornstarch (Maïzena)
  • 35g granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of mastic (optional)
  • 1 tbsp orange blossom water
  • 100g roasted crushed almonds

Preparation:

  1. Fry the pastilla sheets two at a time until they turn golden brown.
  2. Let them drain for a few minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, mix the milk with cornstarch and sugar.
  4. Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously until it comes to a boil.
  5. Remove from heat and add the pinch of mastic and orange blossom water.
  6. On a serving plate, layer the pastilla sheets, alternating with the warm milk mixture and crushed almonds.

Serve the Milk Pastilla immediately.
